Big Ben and Westminster Abbey from the London Eye

Just past the midway point, the London Eye provides spectacular views of Parliament, Big Ben, and Westminster Abbey.
Overall, we enjoyed the London Eye but both of us were slightly disappointed. It's one of the rules we talk about all the time - trying to have low expectations so that they are exceeded, rather than being disappointed by the opposite approach.

Harrod's

Our hotel was a block from Harrod's. This is an impressive building, day or night. We went shopping for an hour or so one day but the store was more crowded than any other department store I've been in. The Food Halls are worth a visit under any circumstances.

Buckingham Palace

We walked from Westminster Abbey through St. James Park on our way to the Palace to see the fanfare surrounding the Changing of the Guards. On the way, this beautiful view offered itself.

NY Times

Walking down 43rd Street, one of my colleagues pointed out that the NY Times was moving out of its long-term headquarters and wondered whether the landmark lamps would remain. I immediately flashed back to a grade school field trip to that building, circa 1968. We toured the Times offices and I remembered two things: those lamps and getting some lead typeset material from that day's issue. The typeset is obsolete. How long will these lamps last?

Cort Theatre

While walking around NYC on Monday night, we ventured past the Cort Theatre and I was drawn to snap this picture. Built by and named for producer John Cort, this house was home to television's Merv Griffin Show from 1969 to 1972. It's longest running tenant to date was The Magic Show starring Doug Henning. But why was I drawn to it?

Air and Space Museum

This weekend, Jacqui's parents and brother visited and the boys (Bob, Bill, Ben, Larry and I) went out to the Dulles corridor to look at some large toys for boys. This wing was not yet opened but we were able to snap a photo or two.

Gargoyles

Today, I was in NYC meeting with some clients. We were sitting in a conference room and I looked out the window. The building was adjacent to the Chrysler Building and I quickly snapped this picture while I was the only one in the room.
